Tires: tires for 1992 Ford F250, proper inflation pressure, ford trucks

Question
Hey. I have a fairly old truck, but it runs, and it's mine. It's the only thing I have, and right now I have 1/2 ton tires on it, used. I want to replace the tires, but I have many people telling me to spend a WHOLE lot of money on tires that I really don't think I need. Can you help me, please????

Answer
Tanya,

On every vehicle sold in the US there is a placard which will list the original tire size and the proper inflation pressure for that size.  The placard on Ford trucks is on the drivers doorpost.  To put on any size other than what is listed involves some risks - some of which are quite severe.

Besides, tires in this size range are pretty close in price and there are some fairly reasonable priced products that ought to work, so you aren't going to save a lot of money no matter what you do.
