Tires: better tires in front?, click and clack, tire basics

Question
I have a FWD-Honda Civic. I recently asked (and paid) to have my tires rotated and what they did instead was to put the 2 better tiers in front.  I thought I recalled a conversation on the radio by "Click and Clack" saying that regardless of FWR or RWD-the better tires belong on the rear as that is the end of the car that will lose traction in a slide and cause you to lose control.

Answer
You are 100% correct.
Tires with more tread always go on the back.

Where should you put two new tires?

However, if the tires where already on the back and you had a rotation, the better tires would then go to the front, so you get even wear.
