Tires: 93H vs. 93V, goodyear eagle tires, speed ratings

Question
I have Goodyear Eagle tires, with one having 93-V and the other has a 93-H after the size on the sidewall.   Is this OK to run both of these tires on my BMW at the same time?

Answer
Rick,

In essence, you are asking can you run different speed ratings on the same vehicle.

This is not a good idea.  In addition to the speed ratings, tires are designed to react differently to steering input.  Typically higher speed rated tires are more responsive.  What can happen is that the tires will react to steering input at different rates and the vehicle will react by oversteering or understeering depending on what is on the front (as opposed to the back).  What you want is for the vehicle to react the way the vehicle designer intended.  So all 4 of the same size, make and model is preferred.

But if you have to live with the situation, putting the lower speed rated tires on the front is most likely to result in a vehicle that has more inherent understeer - which is the safer of the 2 options.
