Tires: Tire sizes, 2005 ford taurus, ford taurus

I drive a 2005 Ford Taurus and have to replace the tires. The current size is 215/60R16. I would like to go to a narrower footprint. Can I put 215/70R16 tires on my existing rims without any safety or adverse wearing issues.

This tire size is incredibly popular and I can not imagine why you would want to change from it.  It isn't particularly wide and the tire you proposed isn't any narrower.  Plus there aren't really any equivalent tire sizes that will fit and are narrower - except to say those sizes are fairly difficult to find.

I'd suggest you stay with that size.
