Pontiac Repair: auto repair, incident report, insurance company

My employer pays for us to park in the parking lot (Systems Parking) next to our building.  An attendant parked my car and when i went to pick my car up at the end of the work day my car was facing a gate and i did not notice the damage to the front driver side bumper Until i got home. I immediately returned to the parking lot and filed an incident report. I was told by the supervisor of the lot to wait 24 hrs.  I called two days later and was told by the person in charge of the claims department that because i left the lot, even though i returned as soon as i noticed the damage that they would not pay, get my insurance company to pay. I was also told by this person that she was told that the damage was preexisting because of the snow and salt residue.  I stay in Chicago and we have had a lot of snow. I have not washed my car in weeks and i don't know how that proves that my damage was preexisting anyway. Is there anything i can do outside of getting my insurance company to pay for the damages that someone, employee or someone else parked in the lot caused.

This is a difficult question and out of my expertise. But an interesting question none the less. I would say you are out of luck! The parking place could either state what they did or you could have had an sccident on the way home and then blame thme for the damage. I know you didn't do that but that would be an out for them. As for the salt dirt on the damaged area. was it wet out on the day this happened and it would have gottne on there the day of the damage you said it happened or was it a dry day and thye had a valid point that it had to have happened before you sid it did.. I really don't know..... My guess is your going to have to call your insurance and claim it as no fault and explain it to thme most insurance comapines have accident forgivness these days and it will not affect your rates your just going to get stuck paying the deductable.
