Tires: Tires Rims, rim width, x71

Can i put a 275"x40x17"  tire on a 17"x71/2" rim i drive a 1991 corvette thank you

Hoawrd,

A P275/40R17 has an acceptable rim width range of 9" to 11".  So no, it will not fit.

But my book says a 1991 Corvette came with P255/45R17's mounted on 8.5" rims on the front and P285/40R17's mounted on 9.5" rims on the rear.

Except for the ZR1 which had P275/40R17's on 9.5" rims front and P315/35R17's on 11" rims rear.
