Tires: tire size, tire size, air pressure

Question
Hello, I have a 2002 extended cab chevy 1/2 ton truck that has 235/75/r16 and the tires always look like they are low on air pressure. I would like to go to a taller tire as to stop this "low look" can you tell me would a 245/75/r16 in a 10ply tire be what I am looking for?
                      Thanks, Tommy Mc

Answer
Tommy,

The tires on your vehicle are P metric tires - the size starts with the letter "P".  The tire you are suggesting starts with the letters "LT".  It is not a good idea to change from "P" to "LT" and vice versa.  besides it would be cheaper to go another route.

I am sure than a P255/70R16 will fit on your rim and 99.9% sure they will fit without rubbing.  This size is incredibly popular and you ought to find something reasonably price in that size - and there is only a 1% difference in diameter so your speedometer will hardly be affected.
