Tires: mixing tire sizes, pontiac bonneville, convenience sake

Question
I have a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville with hard-to-find 215/65/R15 tires on it.  The front tires both need replacing but the backs are fine.  Would it be alright for me to put a slightly different size set of tires on the front for convenience sake?

Thanks,
Linda

Answer
Linda,

You've already figured out the it's best to have 4 of the same type of tire on the vehicle, and you've also figured out that you have a problem with the unusual size GM specified.

You can use a different size, but there is a risk of a mishandling vehicle especially in emergency manuevers, just when you need a good handling vehicle the ost.

I would try P215/70r15's and try to get 4 of the same as soon as possible.
