Tires: tire cupping, honda crv, rear bearings

Question
Today, I went for regular oil change and tire rotation.Mechanic told me that my rear tires have wear marks, he call it cupping, and therefore he didn't rotate them before problem is fixed. He thinks it might be rear struts. I have 2000 honda CRV. Car has 138000 km. I put on new tires two years ago, and had alignment done last year. When I push rear down really hard (standing and bouncing on bumper) and release it car will stop on next way up. Do you have any idea what can cause this wear? It is on both rear tires. When I drive I don't feel any vibrations, just little noise from rear bearings or differential. Thank you for any advice.
Sincerely
Roman Sindelar

Answer
Roan,

Cupping is caused by misalignment and aggravated by insufficient inflation pressure and insufficient rotation practices.

If you haven't rotated tires in 2 years, then we've identified at least one reason why the tires have this wear.  BTW, this wear will feel and sound very similar to bearings.
