Tires: tires, subaru forester, subaru forester 2003
QuestionI need to purchase new tires for my Subaru Forester (2003). The tires I'm replacing are P215/60 R16 94S. If I remember right, the previous tires were 94H - what is the difference, and what should I be putting on my car? Thanks....
AnswerJeanne,
If your vehicle came with H speed rated tires, then you should use H speed rated tires.
While there is a lot of debating points about speed ratings and what they mean, there is a safety issue that doesn't seem to get discussed. It is this: The less of a thing's capability you use, the less likely something will go wrong. In this case, using a tire rated at 130 mph is safer than a tire rated at 118 mph. This was one of the lessons from the Firestone situation.
