Tires: Passenger tires for F-250 with a load, proper inflation pressure, passenger car tire

Question
Barry,

Thanks for your time.

My boss stated that I could use passenger vehicle/SUV tires on my F-250 that normally carries 3/4 ton load. I say I have to use an LT tire. I have just fitted Firestone 265/75/R16. Also, what should the pressures be for this tire, considering the load I carry.

Thanks again.

Answer
Ashley,

Every vehicle has a placard that tells the original tire size and the proper inflation pressure for that size.  That's the size and pressure your should use.

On a Ford truck, the placard is located on the driver's doorpost.

BTW, tell your boss, that you are looking forward to getting his job when he kills himself.  Because that is what is going to happen if he uses a passenger car tire where the vehicle manufacturer called for a Light Truck.
