Tires: Proper Tire inflation, proper tire inflation, dodge durango

Question
Oops-

I just noticed I made a mistake in the original question -- it's a 2000 Durango, not 2003.  I'm assuming that will make a difference in spec's...

Thanks

Ok - this has probably already been asked and answered a MILLION times - but in glancing through the last few pressure posts, I didn't find exactly what I was looking for...

Our 2003 Dodge Durango pillar sticker indicates passenger tires as standard -- P235/75R15XL.  When we ordered the car, they offered optional upgraded LT tires - which we chose.  Can I still use the pillar info for proper tire inflation or not, since we're talking passenger tires vs LT tires?  The sticker indicates 35 front, 41 rear on the P235's.  The max cold inflation info on the 31x10.50R15LT tires is 50psi.  How do I figure out the proper front/back inflation?  Thanks!

Answer -
Suzie,

My book doesn't show an upgrade to an LT tire - and that makes perfect sense to me.  What you probably got was a "dealer upgrade" that wasn't authorized by the factory.  The way to tell is to see if there is an additional sticker right near the other one with the LT tire size writtn on it (BTW, the sticker is commonly called the placard.)

If you don't find the other sticker, then I'm afriad I have bad news.  You need to use 15 psi more than what is on the placard - which is why I don't recommend changing tire sizes (and that includes changing to LT tires) unless they know what they are doing.

Answer
Susie,

You are not the only one who makes mistakes.  After I pushed the "Submit" button, I started to question the answer I gave you - and for good reason!!!

I took my answer from a "cheat sheet" created by someone else - and it's wrong!!!

OK, let's try this again.

It turns out the placard inflation is exactly right for the tire you have on there now.  This is not normally the situation when folks replace tires with LT tires, but these are "Flotation" tires and they're just a bit different.

AND!!!

It turns out my book does have this size listed as coming from the factory (for 2000 - thanks for the update!)  So there should be a sticker (placard) that has this size on it.  What bothers me is that the reference book I am using lists the placard inflation pressure for this size as 35 front / 35 rear - which is not the same as the P235/75R15 XL - and that just doesn't line up.  So there is a mistake in there somewhere, but I can't resolve it.

BUT YOU CAN!!  Is there a placard that lists the 31X10.50R15LT?  What pressure does it say?
