Tires: TIRE SIZE, lexus is300, lexus dealer

Question
SIR
MY QUESTION CONCERNS TIRES FOR A LEXUS IS300.
THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 215/45ZR17 SIZE TIRES, AND
I AM CONSIDERING UPGRADING TO 215/40ZR17 . IS THIS
POSSIBLE, AND IF SO, IS IT GOING TO HAVE ADVERSE EFFECTS ON THE ABS, TRAC,EBD, SENSORS?
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION
FRANK

Answer
Hi Frank!

Frank, to answer your queston....yes you can, but why do you want to do this? What you are going to do if you do that is. Your gonna have the same width, but your going to be lowering the height of the tire. Increasing the revolutions per mile, throwing off your speedometer just a little and increasing the price of the tires(not that they aren't already expensive in that size...lol). I would stay with the same size as what came on it, but if you wanted to "upgrade" the size try using a 225/40/17 which is going to keep the same height as you currently have and increasing the width by just a bit. Now, this works on most cars but I'm not 100% sure on yours. Lexus doesn't allow alot of room in the fender well so if anything it may rub in the tightest turns. Contact your local Lexus dealer to verify that. Hope this helped ya and if need me I'm here!

Andrew ;)
