What is the difference in quality between a tire purchased at a full service tire dealer or auto dealer and a tire purchased at Sam's Club?

It's difficult to make blanket statements about this, but let's divide "quality" into 2 segments so it's easier to discuss:  

1)  How well the tire was designed:  Assuming that the tire is appropriate for the application, this could be an area where there would be differences, but UTQG ratings and such would help narrow these differences.


2)  Consistency from tire to tire:  This is an area where there could be HUGE differences (or none at all).  Such things as balance, roundness, appearance could be different.

IMHO, it is better to deal with someone who is dedicated to tires.  If you have a problem, the more knowledgeable the purchase point, the more likely you are to get the problem solved.
