Tires: Matching tire and rim sizes, rim sizes, inch rim

Question
BF Goodrich tells me that a 235/75 15 tire can be used on a 6, 7, or 8 inch rim, but they will not recommend which of the three sizes is best.  Clearance is not a problem because the vehicle now has 8-inch rims which I am removing.  Which would you recommend for the 235/75 15 tire, a 6, 7, or 8 inch rim?  What is your reason for selecting one size over the others?

Answer
Hello, Mike
I would go with a 6" or 7" rim.  A 6.5" is the size reccomended for the 235/75R15.  The wider the rim the more your tires will wear on the edges. To small will cause tires to wear in the center.  If you pull the beads out futher that the tire is molded it causes the center to depress and the shoulder will wear more than normal.
