Tires: Tires slowly losing air, honda civic lx, pin hole leaks

Question
Hi Barry,

Two of my tires have started slowly losing air more frequent.  One is located on the rear passenger side and I seem to have to put air in every 5 days and the other is the front driver side and I have to put air in it every day.  This just started happening last Thursday when I did not even go anywhere for 3 days. I can not see any nails or holes that are visible to the eye. I can not feel any air coming out.  I checked the stems they seem to be okay. My car is a 2003 Honda Civic LX with Dunlop tires size 14.  I have a little over 46,000 miles.  The treading look okay.  Any suggestions or advice that you can provide to me will be very helpful.

Answer
Angela,

A couple of possibilities:

1)  The rims are leaking.  This is somewhat common for alloy wheels.

2)  There are some pin hole leaks in the tires.

Either take them off the vehicle and immerse them in water - a kiddy pool works good for this - or take them to a tire shop and see if they can locate the air loss site.
