Tires: replacing tires, bfg tires, wheel cars

Question
I want to replace all 4 tires on a 92 Saturn SL2 currently have 195/60/15.
1. Reading other answers, seems that some sizes are cheaper, for some reason, so what size whould you recommend?
2. When I bought the car it had Michlens, after replacing them with Mastercraft the Michlens seemed to make more road noise, So what is a quite tire?
3. Why do front wheel cars need their tires rotated more offen, due to cupping? Or, have I been lied to?

Answer
Ed,
I would replace the tires you have with the same size. You can go up or down one size without causing a lot of problems. Most tire dealers keep only a few sizes in stock and will try to sell you anything they have that is close.
You could use a 195/65 or 185/70 or 205/60 or 185/65 and still be OK. There is a good web site at http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
you can enter in your tire size and then put in differant sizes and see the differance.  As for the michelins, Michelin refuses to give up traction for road noise. They try to reach a happy mediane but will always go with safety first. If the tire is quit most likly you want have has good a grip on the road. Most BFG tires last a long time and are quit but the traction and ride are nowhere as good as the michelins.
