Tires: Tire Size, 2002 toyota camry, r15 tires

Question
I am replacing the tires on my 2002 Toyota Camry, 4 cylinder.  The car came with Continental size 205/65 R15 tires, which lasted less than 30,000 miles.  I went to Costco and they suggested I use a B.F. Goodrich 215/65 R15 which they say is an optional size for this auto. They indicated I will get better traction and handling.  It is rated at 70,000 miles.  The price difference between the tires is very minimal.  Which tire should I go with?  Thanks for your help.  Tires are a very difficult item to compare.

Answer
Hello, Mike
The BFG is a pretty good tire. I don't know about getting 70k out of them but it really depends on your driving, the roads you use and how well you keep a eye on the air pressure. Going from a 205 to a 215 will cause your speedo to be off by about 2%. What that means is when your speedo reads 60MPH your really going 61.2MPH. The BFG tends to get quit loud after about 20K and the ride can be rough. For the price it's really not a bad tire. BFG and Uniroyl have come a long way since being bought by Michelin.

Hope this helps
Jack
