Tires: Rim Size to Tire Size, toyota solara sle, toyota solara

Question
I have a 2003 Toyota Solara SLE with a wheel size 16" x 6" that take a 205/60/16. I recently purchased 4 rims 16" x 6 1/2" from a 2004 Solara and I need your expertise on what size snow tire to purchase to fit these rims. With the tires on these rims will they hit the wheel well.  Thanks a lot for your answer.

Answer
Richard,

It is always a good idea to stay with the original size - you know it won't rub and it has enough load capacity.

Changing the rim width probably won't cause any problem, but that assumes Toyota also didn't change the offset.  This is one area where I don't have enough information to completely answer your question, because there isn't anything published that summarizes how big the fenderwells are and what might limit how large a tire you can fit.  So your best bet is to trial mount the wheel and see what the differences are and where the potential intereference points might be.  Don't forget the worst condition is fully turned and fully compressed.

Hope this helps.
