Tires: alternative size, pirelli pzero nero, michelin xgt v4

Question
Hello sir.

My car is 97' acura 3.5 RL.
the original tire size 215/60/16 V-speed rate.
however, I was driving with 215/55/16 michelin XGT V4, and I'm very satisfied with that tires.
Now, I have to replace 4 tires.
I orderd pirelli pzero nero m&s 225/50/16 W speed rate. i think this size can be alternative on my car. however someone told me, 225/50/16 size is much lower than the original size (also 215/55/16), so that size is not good for my car.
i think 225/50/16 has very simmilar hight with 215/55/16. if 225/50/16 is bad for my car, i'll chage my order to 225/55/16 continental contiextreme contact. is that size ok?

thank you sir.

Answer
The 225/55R16 is equivalent to the 215/60R16 - same load capacity and close to the same diameter, and will fit on your 6.5" wide rims.  The only concern would be if there is enough clearance in the fender well, and usually there is enough to go one increment wider, and sometimes 2.

The 225/50R16 is indeed smaller, both in load capacity and diameter.

Hope this helps.
