Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: DMV skill test, dmv, skill

Question
Hello Pat,

I appreciate the answered you have given before me about the test.  I am planning on take the skill test with a V-Star 650.  Is that too large of a bike to manuer around? I am a newbee to this. Though I am planning on do some more practice on my own in addition to the riding class which I have already taken.

Thanks..

Answer
The 650 is a good choice for a bike, and is a good choice for the skill test--especially if it's the one you plan to ride when you pass the test..

Practice keeping your eyes up--that will help immensely on the cone weave. Practice your stops from 15 mph. Practice quick swerves at 15 mph, careful to separate braking from turning. And practice sharp turns and U-turns. The key to those is also head and eyes up, nice head turn, and use the friction zone to keep the motorcycle stable.
