Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: tires size, motorcycle tires, Kawasaki Ninja

hi, im purchasing a 96' ninja 500 and it needs a new rear tire. im kinda fond of the bigger back tires, but i was wondering if i put the biggest tire i can fit (matching front tire also) will it throw off the balance of the bike and/or will it push on the front tire as im cornering? basically, am i going to hurt the bike/ myself at all? thanks

Mike - I can't say that you CANNOT do what you suggest, but I can say that I would rely on the manufacturer's specifications and recommendations for the tire size most suited for that bike.  If you want the best ride, and want to care for the motorcycle in the best way, I would not use over-sized tires.  In my opinion, you would sacrifice ride AND safety by not following the recommendations of Kawasaki.
