Towing Issues: tow charge, tow yard, fire lane

Question
i had my car towed from my sisters apartment complex. i had parked and went inside.apparently i had parked in a fire zone.which is completely unmarked.the security guard in the complex told him not to tow it that he would put a sticker on it. he went to get a sticker.and the car was already being towed.this all happened within 15 minutes.legally do i have to pay anything to get my car back.someone told me that if i had the police go to the tow yard they would have to give me back my car.i live in arizona

Answer
Well parking in a fire lane is a NO NO... It does result in either parking tickets or towing. Depends on the complex, the local laws and such...

now if the tow company is patrolling the lots, it would make sense that the car was towed while the guard was getting the warning papers. After all it usually is written in the contracts with the complexes as to what is allowed.

Now as to the law you are talking about. I have heard stuff about this, but I think it only applies to certain kinds of tows...

And do not take it as you do not "EVER" have to pay the tow, it means that they would send you a bill, and if it was not paid then it goes to collections...

I had a computer melt down a while ago, and lost a lot of information including references to that law... I can not remember if it was a state law or a local law... I have tried to find it again and am not having much luck...
