my bike turns on with the kill switch on but as soon as i turn it off the bike turns off dont understand why

If you are referring to the red engine cut off switch located on the handlebars just in front of the right handgrip, it has to be in the on or run position for the motorcycle to start, and continue to run. The purpose of the cut off switch is to turn the bike off when you turn the switch off. The switch is designed to allow the rider to shut off the engine without removing the hand from the handlebar.
