Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: scooter Appologies, 50cc, scooter

I am thinking of buying a scooter for a more environmentally sound way of getting to work. I am torn between 50cc and 125cc. I have heard that 50cc is too small, but need help. Which is most suitable?

If you can go for a 125, go for the 125cc, the throttle works both way.  Although the engine cc is larger I find that with the extra cc you don't have be revving it all the time to make progress.  The 125cc has the reserve power you may need.
