Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: Motorcycle insurance in CA, personal injury protection, motorcycle community

I was wondering if it's required to have motorcycle insurance in CA. I've heard ppl purchase there bikes with cash and they ride without insurance. Should I get liability or would I be ok riding without insurance? Thanks!

There are very few, if any, states that do not require at least liability coverage for any vehicle in use on public roads.

I have never heard of California not requiring insurance for motorcycles...that would be kind of a big deal in the motorcycle community. Perhaps what you heard is that certain types of insurance (personal injury protection, uninsured motorist, etc) are not required. Almost certainly, liability insurance is required. The person to ask would be your friendly neighborhood CHP officer. ;-)
