Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: Better motorcycle to improve riding skills., suzuki gsx r 750, better motorcycle

Question
I have been riding my 750 monster now for 3 years but since I live in the northeast its not an everyday thing. My question is which bike will make me a better rider? New Suzuki GSX-R 750 or '01-05 Aprilia Mille (R perhaps).

Here is some additional info:
*I enjoy carving up country roads.
*This will be the last bike in awhile.
*One day i would like to do a little track racing but not neccesarily with this bike.

Answer
Personally, I'd go with the Gixxer, but neither of those bikes will make you a better rider. Only YOU can make you a better rider.

If that's your goal, here's what you need to do: 1) ride more (I'm talking 5-7 days a week during the riding season) 2) learn everything you can about riding techniques (magazines, books, forums, schools, track days) 3) get out and practice those techniques on a bike you're comfortable with. Always try to be learning something while you ride.

If you truly want to improve your riding skills, what I'd recommend is you get two bikes: a used GSXR to play with on the street, and a used GS500 or SV650 to use on the track. Or get a new GSXR and convert the Monster to a track bike.

The street has way too many variables to develop high-performance riding skills safely. What's going to make you a better rider is 99% from your BRAIN.

Good luck.
