Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: switch, brake light switch, good mileage

Question
actually I have two questions--do you know where online I could order a brake light switch(rear) for a 1980 cb900c honda--I tried BikeBandit-no luck--I have found a whole wiring harness on ebay I may bid on--and--can carb cleaner be ran through a motorcycle--got 4 of those things on her--thinkin maybe they could use something-I know it is expensive to have them cleaned--I ride it all the time--just wondering---Thanks for any help

Answer
Hi Bill,

Most likely you'll find that brake light switch on ebay or at someplace that has a lot of used parts. Since BikeBandit was no help, consider looking at other places. There's a good used source here in Oregon, called Mike's Cycle Parts.

Honda probably used that part across many models and years, so you might check and see what other bikes it was used on and look for that on ebay as well. You might want to submit a query to www.findmypart.com as well.

If your bike runs good and clean, idles well and gets good mileage, leave the carbs alone. If not, carb cleaner will not help. They must be taken apart and cleaned. Consider getting a carb rebuild kit (search online) and having a pro do it. Kinda expensive, but worth it in terms of having a bike that runs correctly.

Good luck!
