Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: Motorcycle conversion, trike conversions, fltc

Question
On February 27th I suffered my fourth heart attack.  I own an '89 HD FLTC
and an '85 HD FXRS.  Since I have been home I have been searching the web for
pros and cons on various trike conversions.  I just feel that investing $11,000.00 into a
$9.000.00 bike is not very cost effective.  I therefore was looking into the MTC
Voyager at about half that cost.  I than came across a web site for Safe Stop
which are outrigger wheels.

I would greatly be indebted to you if you could help me with my situation.

     Thank you,

Answer
William,

I don't have much experience with three-wheelers, conversions, or the Safe Stop device, so I will put it this way:

Trikes drive like a car, but are more dangerous than cars because you're still vulnerable as a motorcyclist.

The Safe Stop will allow you to enjoy the freedom and handling of a motorcycle without the anxiety and undue stress involved with holding the bike up at stops and slow speeds. If it were me, I'd go with the outriggers and leave the trikes to those who have no other choice.

Now a SIDECAR, that would be cool. I don't think it would be difficult or expensive to add a sidecar rig to your bikes--you could set up the mounting points and then switch the sidecar from bike to bike.

Personally, I'd still go with the outrigger.

Hope that helps.
