Used Cars: Buying a car enquiry, used, car

Question
Hi – Not too sure if this is your area, and there isn’t an expert under the Nissan category at the moment, but I’m wondering if you think it’s a bad idea to buy a car (in this case a 1999 Nissan) that’s been converted from auto to manual? (The conversion was done by a proper mechanic).
Are there problems associated with reliability when a car has been converted from auto to manual, or is this just as straightforward as going from one type to another and if done professionally doesn’t pose any future problems? Do people normally think twice about buying a car that has been changed this way? Is it an issue in terms of re-sale? Thanks

Answer
Hi Ian,

Yes it really is a mechanical question, here is a link to a forum that I been a member for years http://www.automotiveforums.com/# you will get your answer.

From a personal viewpoint, if the switch was done some time ago with no current problems I would consider,,, Yes buyers would think twice about buying, as for re-sale being 14 years old I don't think the switch factor will have an issue on price,,, CONDITION is all that matters.

My expertise is buying - selling, if you want to buy a car and follow in my steps start with this link on my web site http://www.usedcartips.org/TESTDRI.html
