Used Cars: Car buyer threatening a lawsuit, used, car

Question
We sold a vintage(33 year old convertible vw)to a private party and after having the car inspected he is unhappy and threatening us with a lawsuit. The car was sold "as is" and he signed the bill of sale as such. We didn't know of any apparent problems, but this is a 33 year old unrestored convertible. I am not a mechanic and let him know this throughout the transaction. His hobby is doing auto restoration. He drove the car and did his own inspection and ask to reduce the selling price for the repairs he needed, which we did. I don't see how we misrepresented the car and he could have taken it to a mechanic before he purchased the vehicle. How do we defend against this? lawsuit

Answer
It's a done deal, AS IS, means just that. You got the money case closed, let him stew all he wants.

If you still need further explanation, check the make private box and leave a phone # for me to contact.
