Used Cars: Used Car We Owe Contract, interior door panel, golf ball size

Question
Hi,

I bought a used Infiniti and there were a few things that the Infiniti dealer promised to take care of with a "We Owe" contract. All of them items have been looked into and fixed, but the problem is that I am very unsatisfied with one of the fixed items. Here is the item in question:

There was a pen size hole in the leather of the interior door panel. The dealer said they will get a leather expert to patch it and will be hardly noticeable. However, the hole turned into a filled lump and a golf ball size area has been patched to blend in with the leather texture. The patched area is smooth and the rest of the leather panel is textured. The blemish is worse now. I called them about it, but all they are willing to do is replace the door panel at my cost and it is not cheap for a 2009 Infiniti. What are my options? The "We Owe" states, "Fix hole in door". They did fix it, but the end result is very unsatisfactory.

Thanks for your help!

Answer
Hi Peter

I have come across this type problem many times with mostly cigarette holes being the issue, and yes I could have told you the area in question will turn into a smooth lump be it fabric or leather, the dealership used the term hardly noticeable, I would have said will fix the hole as best we can. The vehicle being nearly new I don't blame you for being upset but the note says will fix hole not replace the door skin. Have you been in contact with the General Manager or Dealer Principal " I mention this because in many cases a consumer will complain to a higher level than the salesman or used car manager and get results.

Send a registered letter to the Dealer Principal and explain in a nice way you will not let this problem go to rest and will blemish their reputation through word of mouth along with posting your dissatisfaction all over the Internet unless you get the door skin replaced at their cost.

If you feel misrepresentation in the deal and want to pursue it legally here is a link on my website that may be able to help you further at no cost   http://www.usedcartips.org/dispute.html

Summary,,, Should the end result be you being very dissatisfied with this dealership, I would appreciate letting me know whom they are ?
