Used Cars: used Ford Focus, focus station wagon, reliable cars

Question
I am in the market for a used car. I love the Fusion and have one lined up. It is a 2007 Fusion SE, 6 cyl. The length and amount of payments are causing me hesitation. I also have a 2003 Focus Station Wagon SE lined up. 30 k. The payments are very comfortable.  Are these reliable cars? I fear going with the cheaper one will hurt me in the long run with repair issues.

Answer
Well the Focus' did have their run of questionable quality, their problems were never really major, but all the same, they did have their problems from about 2000 to 2001-02.  Most of the 03 Focus' that I have seen have been pretty good, maybe a little thing here or there, but for the most part nothing big, and overall have been pretty good cars.
The Fusion's have been pretty good, and I would probably rate them above the Focus.  In my opinion your decision on which one to purchase should have no bearing on future repair issues, primarily because I dont think any problems would be major, and the Focus only has 30k miles, they usually dont start having problems till 80k or higher. So all things considered, I think you should go with your gut feeling, in the economy that we live today, It would be hard for me to advise anyone to put themselves in a financial strain, just the same, I always favor newer technology.  I think the focus would do you just fine, in the long haul, but regardless of your choice, just make sure you are happy with it, before you purchase it.  I recommend carfax reports, and an unbiased mechanical opinion on eitheir car you choose.
I hope this helps, and good luck.
