Used Cars: Price Drop, kia spectra, blue book value

Question
I have my eye on a used '02 Kia Spectra LS. KBB value is showing $5280 for a car that yr/mk/mdl in excellent condition. The dealer had the car showing for sale at $3970, and without me trying to haggle or showing a whole lot of interest, they have contacted me to drop the price to $3133. The interior is kind of shabby, in the sense that there is a chunk missing from the steering wheel where the previous owner had a dog that did not like being in cars, as well as the emergency brake being slightly chewed. The test drive was smooth and the car looks ok, but I don't know a lot about cars and it seems kind of strange for them to be selling the car to me $2000 below blue book value, when all I did was show up and test drive. Is this normal, or should I be concerned there is something wrong with the vehicle? They gave me AutoCheck history that was clean, but I still feel a little uneasy with this. Please help!

Answer
Hi Stacey

I wish you would have included a zip code with your Question that would have allowed me to check on market prices in your area for this vehicle, from your description it seems the previous owner did not take good care.

You mentioned you don't know a lot about cars. Buying any vehicle is a process of steps, and if you allow yourself the time to study " which most consumers don't " to pick up some pointers how to lessen the fear getting a lemon I will be happy to guide you along to secure your investment.

You mentioned the test drive being smooth, for starters link to this web page on my website   http://www.usedcartips.org/TESTDRI.html  did you miss any steps test driving ?

As for AutoCheck history, they are the best with history reports, but what good is it if there were no report submitted?

Study my site, you will have further questions, feel free to get back to me through the forum in my website or allexperts, also provide a zip code along with how many miles on the Kia.

Have a great day
