Used Cars: tags on used car, private owner, date of expiration

just bought a car yesterday  ( July 31 08 ), from a private owner & I didn't notice the tags where due on the 16 of July 2008 . Do I have to pay for them ? I live in California .

Well you probably need to call a local tag agent to make sure, I would think if you did have to pay, it would not be much($10 to $12).  I am kinda confused by the date of expiration, because here in oklahoma, they do not break it down to a day of a month, it is just a month/year for expiration, and here you can go till the end of the month after expiration legally.  I am sorry, I do not feel like I really offered any kind of assistance with this, but I just do not know how california tags work.  But I just dont think it would be a whole lot.  I hope it works out in your favor.
