Used Cars: Fair Price on Used Jag, x type jaguar, bells whistles

Question
a dealership has listed a 2006 X-Type Jaguar 3.0 for $21999. It does not have all the bells
& whistles such as no sunroof, no park assist, but it does have low miles 9300.
What is a fair offer on this vehicle, tax, title, out the door? No Trade in

Second Question:

Same vehicle as above & same question but with a trade in:

Trade in:

1999 Buick Century Custom

82300 miles

good to excellent condition

has been maintained throught out it's life

Because JAGUAR makes several different models and several different trim levels
ie, 3.0, 4.0, and or sport, etc.  You didn't provide me with enough information
to answer the question. The second question, about your trade in, depends more
on where you live, however I can say it is probably around $2000 car, +/-,
dealerships have a tendency to price their cars higher so they can "allow" you
more for your trade vs. discounting the price, its all the same to them.

Answer
I looked up auction prices on this car, for a low mile one, you can expect that the dealer paid around 19k for the car, so they are asking for a 2995 profit, which isn't bad on a high line car assuming they properly serviced the vehicle and spent some money on reconditioning the vehicle when they bought it, and assuming there is nothing wrong with the cars history such as flood, accident, frame damage and anything else.  I don't know how much ttl is wherever you live, however, you should probably make an offer of 19k just in case they got it on a trade and didn't give the previous owner much for it, I wouldn't pay more than their asking price including ttl ie, drive out of 22k. start low, you can always go up if you want the car.  You may have to negotiate with a professional, so don't give up too easy, they will probably want you to sign an offer, make that offer the lowest number.  The rest will go from there, have a price in mind that you will not pay more than and don't tell your salesman no matter how much they say they are on your side.  heck, start out at 18000 which is wholesale on the car maybe they are ready to get rid of it.
good luck.
