Used Cars: buying a used car, burning oil, best bet

i need to get a car that confirmable and will last a while for $1,500. i just bought a 1996 eclipse that need way to much work put into it for me to keep it so i need to get rid of it ASAP. any thoughts on a car?

Any car for 1500 will have its problems... Your best bet is to find a very well maintained late 80's-90's honda/toyota... you can probably find a used CRX/civic for 1500 that will be an alright car... The biggest part would be to make sure it is in good shape and properly cared for.  Check to see if its burning oil, if the transmission is working properly, if their is any oil leaking around the engine... (common problems with 90's hondas)  Make sure it is stock too, no modifications as these are likely signs of abuse.  Thats about the best you'll be able to do with that amount of money... good luck! and be sure to take someone who knows a little about cars if you don't know how to check the previously mentioned things out.
