Used Cars: Transfer of title..., small claims court, legal councel

Question
I bought a car from my ex-boss...I paid by check to him and made a contract with him stating that he is selling me a certain car for this amount with the agreement that he will pay off the loan and issue me a title in a time frame...I have not received title, i have found out the loan is now delienqent and i am unable to find him...and now i am unable to get the registration tags for the vehicle...what options do i have???

Answer
Hi Percival
This e-mail makes me boil with anger how anybody would buy a vehicle under those terms, however the damage is done lets move on from there...

You did not include a ZIP or postal code therefore i cant provide the laws about transfer of title in your area, but can tell you what has transpired is not legal as there is a time frame for transfer of title...

You must contact legal councel or small claims court, the lien holder has a right to REPO the vehicle as its not in your name keep that in mind when you park it somewhere...
the contract between you and seller means nothing to lender
You will have learned a lesson the hard way but am sure you will not get bitten twice, next time you buy a car check out my website before purchase  http://usedcartips.bravehost.com/
