Trucking: Truck business, driver recruitment, going in the right direction

Question
QUESTION:  can i make a profit if a buy a truck and hire a truck driver??
If I get paid by load not by miles

ANSWER: Luis, the short answer is maybe.
It's no different than any other business, if your sales exceed your costs you can make a profit.
You need a business plan that answers the questions, what is my top line sales dollars and what are ALL of my costs, not just what I paid for the truck and what I pay the driver.  It doesn't matter how you arrive at the dollars; by mile or by the load, as long as the sales dollars after all costs are accounted for is a positive number big enough to cover your risk.
The real answer in this economy is it will be tough but not impossible to turn a profit with one truck.
Best of luck.  Jim.
