Trucking: Price on Loads, luck jim, enough money

Question
We just started and are being sub-leased by a company, I'm the owner but my son is the driver, When the co, sends us out, are we not allowed to ask how much the load is or some proof of what the load will pay?  Several times he will say it pays so much, but when its time to pay he changes the amount by $500 to $1000.  I'm not making anything and we are planning to break loose if we can gather enough money. I barely my enough to pay the driver very little.  Thank God , my son is trying to help and accepts a small pay.  If you help me with this or let me know where I can go to get an answer I would be very gratefully.  M.L.

Answer
Mary, I would advise you to find another company to contract to ASAP.  This is not an ethical way to do business.  You need to get the rates to be paid in writing and as long as you deliver on time without damage and turn in all the paperwork you should get paid what was agreed.
Good luck.
Jim
