Nissan Repair: oil pressure light, low oil pressure, engine temp

1991 nissan p/u ,V6, oil light comes on at low idle, flickers on and off, oil level is good, engine temp does not rise when light is on, no valve rattling so oil is getting to top of engine.
is it the pump or sending unit going bad?

Change the sending unit and see if the light goes out.  After this many years they get plugged up or go bad.  Make sure the oil is changed regularly.  If you install a new switch and you still show low oil pressure make sure the gallery that it screws into is clear.  If you still have a flickering light at idle replace the oil pump.
