I own a flatbed company with four power units I have one regular direct customer but was looking for better ways to get more direct customers or where  to bid on freight to help stay ahead of the bank.

Tony, by your question I assume you know how to get loads through Brokers.  To get direct shipper contracts you need to do some research and marketing.  Figure out your target market in terms of the type of business and general geographic area.  Then search any directory you can find of those businesses and start calling, mailing and emailing.  Always ask for referrals or leads from everyone you talk to.  Continuous vigilant networking will lead you the contacts who will be able to connect you to the companies that need freight handled.  A satisfied customer is your best advertisement so always give good service for the money and ask for referrals from your satisfied customers.  It's really just marketing 101.  You can do it.
