Trucking: Buying a truck, peterbilt 379exhd, edvice

I want to know if buying a truck(2004 PETERBILT 379EXHD)is a good move good idea right now.I want to be an owner oper.and want to quit my job.And also is there any money out there to be made by op.I just saw jevic trucking closing it doors because of high fuel prices.I just want the your edvice to guide me in the right direction.If i do buy the truck it's going to be paid off.Your edvice would really be much appreciated.

My personal feelings, I would stick to being a company driver for right now. Price is going to continue to rise and forecast predict $7 - $10 per gallon gas. Well if diesel gets to $6 per gallon I think 80% of the trucking industry will shut down. If you think you must buy a truck and be an O/O, lease on with a big company like Swift, Schneider or Werner. That will be the only way to survive later.
