Trucking: Late Model Trucks, dodge 3500, model trucks

Question
Hi Jim

My question is do most companys require late models trucks

I have a 2001 dodge 3500 Quad Cab with about 183000 miles on it

It still looks good and is in good mechancial shape

I'm hoping to retire from my previous job this year and maybe get into Hot Shot Driving, part time

Any info would be appreciated

Thanks
Scott

Answer
Scott, some companies do have age restrictions on equipment but most are pretty lenient.  You will just have to ask each one that you are considering.  If it's mechanically reliable and looks good it shouldn't be a problem.  On the other hand you need to start building a reserve for either major overhauls or replacement when the time comes.
You didn't indicate but assuming it's a diesel the mileage is fine.
Best of luck.
Jim
