Trucking: Equipment needed for LTL frieght?, ltl loads, dodge dually

Question
Just trying to get started in the hotshot business and looking to Get a 3500 Dodge dually and wondering what size trailer to get. I want to be as versatile as possible so i can get as many loads as possible. I was looking at a 35' flatbed with a 5' dove, and 3 ramps. Is that good? Do i need bigger? I used the getloaded.com demo and there were alot of ltl loads in my area, but you can't see what they are. Can you keep busy with rig like this or should i shift directions? Thanks for your help

Answer
Hi Chris,

I wouldn't go any shorter than the 35' trailer.  If you plan on hauling cars, I would go 50'.  If it's mixed freight, 40' plus would be good.  Call some brokers and see what's moving in your area and what length trailers are needed.  You'll get an idea, but generally, longer is better unless your dealing with heavy equipment or specialized freight.  I think you can make money with your setup, but I look into a slightly longer trailer.

Good luck!
