Trucking: auto trasport busiess, bob stephens, auto auctions

We would like to start a auto transport business but we have absolutely no idea where to begin.  We have people to start the business as far as having drivers, but we don't know where to begin; ie. step 1, step 2, step 3, etc.  Please help us.

First, you should incorporate.  Next, get your DOT/MC numbers, base plates, fuel stamps, insurance, etc.  Sites like www.dotauthority.com can help you get legal.  If you have problems, contact your state's Department of Transportation.

Next, you'll need loads.  Contact local auto dealers and auto auctions for business.  Anyone that ships cars is a potential customer, so drop off a business card.  Sites like www.getloaded.com can yield some loads for you also.

If you need equipment, check out www.truckpaper.com.  There is a lot of great equipment on there.
