Trucking: car hauling, stamp insurance, chevy truck

Question
I bought a 3500 chevy truck and i want to start a car hauling business. Can you please give me some advise on how to go about it? Also if you know where i can get a trailer for hauling here in Dallas or anywhere in Tx for lease. Thanks

Answer
Hi Samuel.

There are two ways to go about it.  You can either run under your own authority or lease out to a carrier.  If you want to run under your own authority, then you need your DOT/MC number, tax stamp, insurance, base plate and so on.  Sites like www.dotauthority.com can help you get legal.  Sites like www.getloaded.com can help you get loads.  In the car hauling business, you should also drop your card off at car dealers, auto performance/repair shops, custom car dealers, etc.  Auto auctions can give you some great leads too.

You can find a good trailer at www.truckpaper.com.

Good luck!
