Trucking: Owner operator looking for good local contract?, bob stephens, loan note

Hi Bob,

Do you know of a few good Companies that hire local owner operator to haul containers in Georgia - Atlanta area?

Currently, as long as I can get paid and take care of the truck I should be fine... However do you realistically think I can make it with a $1200 monthly truck payment  - 36 months loan.

Note: Since I am a new owner operator, I am trying to balanced my options between OTR and local, knowing that I would prefer staying local, but I don't know if I will be able to afford it.

Please advise.

I have a good friend who is an O/O hauling containers to the rail yard in Atlanta.  I'm not sure what the rate are, but he has a newer truck and says the freight is always good.  Also, Atlanta is a hotbed for dedicated routes.  Call some big carriers with terminals in Atlanta like UX Xpress, Werner, Heartland, etc.  You should be able to do very well in Atlanta.
