Trucking: Truck for 6/7 car carrier, big rig, bob stephens

Question
I currently have a 1 ton dodge that I hotshot out of with a 3 car carrier. Im doing pretty well only doing 2000-2500 miles a week. Im starting to get ready for another truck and instead of doing another dually with trailer, i wanna get a 5-7 car carrier. What is the smallest vehicle that would pull that type of weight. Im interested in a f650 or the small truck rigs that sell for around 110k.

P.S. Everyone is saying to stick with another dually cause there is alot less expenses, which is ok if there is not enough work, but i think a 5-7 car carrier would keep me busy just as much as my 3 car carrier.

P.S.S Or should I just get a used big rig with trailer for under 50k and just take my chances with it breaking down?? Thanks for all your help as you are the guys who got me started with my dually. Now im already growing into another truck for my biz!!!!

Answer
Hi Chris.

I'm always of the motto "The more you haul, the more you make".  If you can get the work, I would get a Class 8 truck and trailer.  If you want to haul 5-7 cars, you'll probably need a Class 7 truck anyway.  Look into a used, fleet maintained truck and shop around on www.truckpaper.com.  You'll find a great deal and that's the direction I would go.

Good luck!
