Good Afternoon Mr. Bowers:
I have gained a lot of interest in getting into the Dump Trucking business, and I have been reading from many different forums about how this business works. I pretty much would like to know the major Pros and Cons of running your own Dump Truck company.

Bobby, I assume you are talking about buying a truck and running as an owner operator.  It sounds like you have done some research so probably already have a good idea what it's all about.  I have not been closely involved in the dump truck business but from what I understand you can make a living but won't get rich.  Many companies pay by the load so there is an incentive to operate in an unsafe manner to make more loads per day.  Most of the work will be short haul which means you should be home every day as opposed to over the road drivers who may be out days or weeks at a time.  It just depends on which is more important to you. big bucks and never home or a modest living with a home life.  Hope it works out for you.
